The roots of a young tree was sown years ago,
into a flower pot a size tad too big for it.
"Mummy, what plant is this?"
Two days was all it took to create a pity sight:
Droopy leaves
pretty much pointed to exhaustion and weakness.
What more could be expected from a plant so young?
"Mummy mummy come look, it's dying."
Endurance:
The foundation and the reason for miracles.
The young tree braved the elements,
proving its power of lasting;
proving its capacity for continued existance in our driveway.
Indeed, a Survivor.
"Eyh! Look at the cluster of pretty flowers!"
It wasn't one cluster after all.
A few clusters.
How I adored it,
as it never failed to work its charm and magic on me.
What captivating fragrance,
throughout the break of dawn;
throughout the night when the moonlight shines.
"It's been a while since I last sniffed its scent."
Tonight, I stopped to appreciate its beauty.
As i took a deeeeeep breath,
a broken string of events long forgotten,
flashed through my mind.
Sigh.
Life was simple.
Relationships weren't convoluted.
"Why are you feeding mosquitoes? COME IN!"
